2010 Run Forest Run: A resounding success

So there's me at the left; Erika Powers, who took first; Valerie Valente, who I ran with and who took second; Rogeria Westbrooks, third place female and John Brinkman, my co-race director.  No, I don't like sharing the title, but John is a good dude.

Me again; Les Hockenberry, second place male; Chris Burke, the race winner and one of my training partners and Tom Dowell, third place male next to Johnny B.

So the fourth annual Run Forest Run was this morning and it was success for more than a few reasons.

First, we had a record registration and turnout, and everything went very smotthly from an organizational perspective.  Second, we actually got to run the race on the scheduled day this year, and while it rained a bit after the race, it was largely perfect weather for the registration and run: 50 and cloudy. Third, we had a great course again and a ton of my people ran the race and enjoyed the course.

The big news (for me) was that my Achilles felt great, which is a huge relief.  I pushed it pretty hard, having not run for about three weeks now, and finished under 32, for four sub 8:00 miles.  And I felt GREAT.  No, I didn't get an award, but I gotta tell you that after worrying about, being depressed about and laboring over this god damn injury for about a month now, I can honestly say that the thing seems like it is almost totally behind me.

We had a few things that bummed me, like the fact that my sister Emily and my cousin Joanie did not run, and that the tshirt guy screwed up and printed short sleeve tshirts, but all in all, it was a great day and an extremely fun event.
