Michigan City Triathlon

Emily and I are done and happy. Total success and fun as hell.

Sadly (?) the swim was cancelled due to outrageous waves (and also a dead body found on the beach last night).

Literally dozens of photos to follow.

Dateline: Homewood :: Emily got a new road bike

(download)

This video does the bike no justice, but suffice to say, it is beautiful and it was a STEAL.

Just another craigslist success story.

Drivers: please use caution when approaching this road bike novice.

Wonder if Emily will be pedaling this as yet unnamed lady during the South Shore triathlon we are considering.

Stop what you are doing and go buy a tandem bike

First time ever on a tandem bike, and the back no less, and I am getting one just as soon as the bank forecloses on my farm.

Emily and her coworker Rebecca came over on Rebecca's tandem bike and these things are sweet.

Jen and I on the bike. Also prominently featured in this photo: my neighbor Ernie's arm. He was riding on the front handlebars, documenting the entire event for posterity.

Also, a video. It appears as though I am biking drunk here. Cars.

Run for Freedom 5k race, parade

So, I race directed the Run for Freedom today. This is always a fun race, with a ton of day-of registrations.

Runners got a great running hat for signing up today. Pictured below.

Sadly, I totally spaced and did not get any photos at the race. Ah well. Notable racers included Jennifer, who posted a PR, Emily who also PR'd AFTER biking for an hour directly before the race as part of a brick and Jimmy, who narrowly missed his very aggressive goal while running very strong. Oh cripe, Ian ran as well. He had to lie down for a minute after the race. Please note that I love this.

Finally, some woman ran the whole race with an open umbrella. Reread that last sentence. Hilarious, plus she finished in a somewhat respectable time. I should add an award for this type of behaviour.

We then went to a fun parade. Violet got to sit in a popo car.

This guy was also there. He spent too much time getting ready for just this one parade, so I hope he had plans after.
