How can Saturday Night Live translate its brilliance in viral video to the live show?
Original Video:
Interview with Ezra Furman
Still chopping up the audio from my interview with Ezra Furman, of Ezra Furman and the Harpoons fame, but I hope you will enjoy the piece I should have together tomorrow here on the site. Will feature images, audio and thoughts from the conversation I had with the man himself an hour or so before his band played at the Double Door last Friday night. Good show, great conversation. Hope you check back.
Awesome family party, part two
Grandma Ellie commands the attention of five kids, and grandpa.
Bri and maxy
J-Jo and me
Max guitar solo. Ukulele, yeah.
Two adults, four kids. This is my kind of ratio. Oh wait, I see an ipho.
Traffic court today
Bikes and bike riding
Jimmy B and I went for a great ride on Friday night. Yes, it was part of the night riding series. Yes, we did have a great time and covered at least 20 miles. No, nobody fell down go boom.
In this photo, I think I saw some type of Hollywood starlet or submarine sandwich off in the distance that I was looking at lovingly. Honestly, I would have made a move on either had one actually presented itself at this hour.Michigan City Triathlon
Freshly rebuilt single speed commuter
Looking sharp and skinny, greased and ready.
New puncture proof tires, original rims. Original brakes, fresh cabling.
New single speed freewheel system with original chainring adn shortened original chain
Oh yeah, new two tone bar tape, new brake levers and hoods.
Here is the bike in it's first iteration as a single speed. This was taken in June.
What a labor of love; can't wait to ride him.
Stop what you are doing and go buy a tandem bike
Jen and I on the bike. Also prominently featured in this photo: my neighbor Ernie's arm. He was riding on the front handlebars, documenting the entire event for posterity.
Also, a video. It appears as though I am biking drunk here. Cars.
Homewood Farmer's Market
Seriously delicious cookies and brownies. Highlights include peanut butter toffee and oddly, chocolate chip. A bit on the spendy side for cookies, but worth it. David and Tracy are pictured.
Ey coffee
Great, local alternative to my favorite, starbucks.
Vio and Penny and our bikes
Don't be an ass and drive to the farmer's market. How far is it really from your place.
Violet and Dad play Rudolph; Penny sings and plays bass
This is the kind of thing that really makes a dad proud.
When I learned to play guitar, strumming was one of the most difficult things for me, and frankly it looks as though Vio may be a natural.Big ups to Penny for keeping a solid beat and backing me up.Jury duty
Honestly, when I received the letter from the county reading: Official Summons, I got a bit nervous.
Then I read a bit further and got excited: I had to answer to my civic responsibility and go to jury duty.
A ton of people I know look upon jury duty as some kind of burden, like mowing the yard or peeling the dead skin off your father's sunburned back, but I get kind of excited.
A day to myself. A day to get a ton of things done. A day to consider all the sacrifices jurors past have made in solidifying our judicial system.
When you think about it, jury duty is a lot like flying cross country:
* getting magazines before hand
* waiting in line to go through the metal detector
* eating pre-packaged food in an uncomfy chair
* watching a silly instructional video as to what one can expect
* sitting next to this guy, who clearly has too much cologne on
And here's the whole team!
So, what, do you have any good jury duty stories to share? Maybe yes, maybe no. My great jury duty story is still being written.
Either way, I have had a pretty good time thus far. Granted it is only 11:36, just 24 minutes until our "lunch period."
I'm thinking Arby's.
Autostitch for the iPhone: Where it's at
I have photographic proof: Autostitch for the iPhone, a $1.99 app on the iTunes store is seriously sharp.
This image is a collage on seven individual photos I took on a beautiful road somewhere between Indiana and Michigan while riding with my boy Harps this afternoon. Do click to open it, the browser size does not do it justice. More info and images to follow, but this app is a keeper. Would be unbelievable for panoramic situations, sunsets or particularly impressive submarine sandwiches.Try it for yourself; I would love to see your images.
